The VE258Q has preset buttons that claim to be able to be used for gaming or for watching movies, but they really don’t do much in improving the overall picture quality of this computer monitor. The standard setting tends to work best. Another great option is that the monitor has built in speakers so that you don’t have to attach external speakers, but you do have the option (and the power cable) to be able to do just that.
While the image quality is very good, the back-light tends to bleed quite badly around the edges, which does nothing when you are watching a movie. However, if you are not sitting directly in front of the monitor you can see some serious color and texture distortions; this does not do much for making this a group-friendly monitor or a good choice for replacing your television screen with a computer monitor.
