An Asus VS229H-P review will show you just how far IPS (In-Plane Switching) technology has come in the last few years. With the VS229H-P you not only get a 21.5 inch monitor, but you get ultra rich colors as well as surprisingly wide viewing angles. While there aren’t a great number of additional features with this particular model when you consider the $160 price tag, you won’t feel so very bad.
It used to be that IPS technology (which has a reputation for providing excellent color quality, superior gray-scale and incredibly wide viewing angles) cost a small fortune. With each technological advance, however, the price has come down, until now you can afford a good quality monitor without feeling as if you have been taken advantage of.
Mind you, the higher priced models are almost always richer in picture and color quality, but for the price range the Asus VS229H-P provides even those on a strict budget with a way to afford good quality computer monitors that will do everything you need.
The overall design of this model is very sleek, but it is the 1820×1080 resolution and the 16:9 aspect ratio is what will draw your attention. While this particular model doesn’t have built in speakers, it has a speaker jack so that you can hook up your own. The monitor itself has a comfortable 25 degree tilt angle (five degrees forward and 20 degrees back) and while there is no swivel feature the price tag countermands any of these relatively cosmetic failings.
This little model comes not only with Splendid Technology but also with Quick Fit features. You get six picture presents as well as options for preventing color shifting when the screen is tilted or when the monitor is viewed from more of an angle.
• 21.5” screen
• IPS Technology
• 1820×1080 resolution
• 16:9 aspect ratio
Though it is a bit small for the price, the excellent color and picture quality will more than make up for its lack of width, and with such touches as off angle viewing and clearly defined edges and colors, you won’t be able to. With a 5ms response time this might not be the fastest computer for gaming, but for most players, it will be more than fast enough for what they need it to do.
